Or drag an image here, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac).
How to scan a QR code from an image
- Add the image. Choose a file, drag one onto the box above, or copy a screenshot and paste it on this page.
- Read the result. The scanner shows what kind of code it is and the exact text stored inside.
- Copy it or open it. Links are never opened automatically. You decide whether to visit them.
It reads PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP images, including photos and screenshots with other things around the code. Some browsers cannot open HEIC photos from iPhones; take a screenshot of the photo instead.
Private by design
Decoding happens entirely in your browser. Your image, and whatever is in the code, are never uploaded to qrfun.app or anywhere else. That makes it safe for codes that hold Wi-Fi passwords, contact details or private links. Camera scanning works the same way: video frames are analyzed on your device and nothing is recorded.
What it recognizes
- Links: shows the full address and the website it belongs to, with a separate button to open it.
- Wi-Fi: network name, security type and password.
- Contacts (vCard): name, organization, phone, email and website.
- Email, phone and SMS codes, with the address, number and message.
- Calendar events: title, time and location.
- Plain text and anything else, shown exactly as stored.
Check before you open
A QR code can point anywhere, and stickers with fake codes are a known scam on parking meters, posters and restaurant tables. Before opening a link, look at the website name the scanner shows. Be wary of misspelled brand names, unexpected shortened links, or pages that ask for payment or a login straight away.
